Hi! I have this 1956 penny that has the L really close to the border. Any idea how much is worth?

1 cent.

As the dies are used, the design elements spread out slightly. With the heavy mintage of coins during and after the war (almost 1 billion 1946 cents), it's common.

Sometimes the rim sucks the "L" right into it

to the CCF L on the rim is just an ebay error that's not an error. It's to separate people that don't know any better and their money.

Now, now, it's for sure worth more than $0.01, right? If that's the case, then even a 1909-S VDB or a 1955 Doubled Die is only worth $0.01, but we all know that the copper value is higher than that.

It's a keeper copper value only. Not an error as discussed above.

to the CCF!

The term ' L on the rim' isn't a recognized variety type for the 1946 Lincoln Wheat cent. All of the one cent coins struck in 1946 have the word LIBERTY in exactly the same place with the same spacing between the L and the rim.

The term ' L on the rim' is used to try to confuse novice collectors into believing that it's an error or variety with a premium value. You can find lots of terms like this used by sellers on many different online auction pages. Almost all of these terms mean nothing.

If you look at the PCGS Coinfacts images for the 1946 cent you'll see that the L is very close to the rim. https://www.pcgs.com/coinfacts/coin...6-1c-rd/2743

The wear on your coin has joined the rim to the L, but this is also normal.

ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!
