I thought that the symbols on picture 2 would be found on an image search in Krause, but I couldn't find anything.

I checked copper coins with similar weight and size on Numista; by far the closest match to the symbols on picture 2 is this Pratabgarh paisa.

I don't think the other side is a match, but there are apparently different varieties?

Excellent ID, @january1may. I would call it a good match with the Partabgarh paisa variety listed in Numista. The writing in the first photo differs slightly, but the second photo is a match considering that this coin is struck very off-center, and the photo here is oriented 180 degrees from the photo in Numista. Here are eight more examples of Partabgarh paisas from Zeno.

The first coin on this list (Zeno #98337) appears to be a good match for your coin, again considering the different striking positions on the flan and orientation of photos. The writing appears to match.

Well, I had about given up on this! I even asked an Indian coin expert. A combination of unillustrated varieties and being off-centre make the ID rather obscure. Thanks @january for checking the specs on numista. I'll have to try to remember this more often!
