1817 Bust Half Strike Through Error?

roach Valued Member United States 364 Posts	Posted 03/28/2024 9:11 pm Hi all, Just recently acquired this 1817 bust half and to my eye it looks like it has a strike through.....or is it a scratch? The reason it looks like a strike through to me is that there is no raised metal on either side or end that you usually would see in a scratch of this size. This indicates that is was an object on the die that left an impression on the coin. Anyone have thoughts? Report this Post to the Staff

The fields look slightly warped in that area which wouldn't appear on a strikethrough. Can't tell for sure, but reverse photos would help. Suffering from bust half fever.
