I'm in way below you guys at very good, way too much wear for VF as most have stated.

@Muddler, It is a common mistake to confuse wear with strike weakness on these early bust halves.

I think it depends on who is grading the coin in this case muddler look at drape clasp, hair around the neck area, ear definition and curl under the B in LIBERTY and the sharpness of the LIBERTY iteself. the right wing is also stronger than a F coin. personally I would not consider purchasing bust halves unless I was well versed on detecting wear from strike on these. hope that helps going forward with these

Not to take away from the original post but I have an 1837 half that I would grade as VF  Based on the feedback on the coin starting this thread is this an XF or even AU example?

OP coin is VF- cleaned.
@muddler, yes that coin's obverse is XF+/AU.
