You guys have been awesome. Why does this 1987 penny have such a blurry/stippled face, and does that appear to be a double mint mark? Double die?

Agree with plating issues and split copper plating. Just a FYI: it is called a doubled die not a double die.Double mint is a gum ,
I think you meant RPM.
