2 Morgan Dollars Submitted For Grading Opinions: 1878 And 1879-S

divesww New Member United States 44 Posts	Posted 04/08/2024 05:21 am I have 2 Morgan dollars that I would appreciate your grading opinions on. The first is a 1878. Any chance it qualifies for MS? Noteanything special about it? The 2nd one is a 1879s. Pics are taken through coin holder plastic. Thanks. Report this Post to the Staff

livingwater Pillar of the Community United States 2233 Posts	Posted 04/08/2024 06:53 am They are nice coins but not high enough grade to be worth the cost of sending them in for grading. Difficult to tell with the photos and under the plastic if they have original surfaces, there are scuffs, scratches, looks like the 1878 has some circulation wear, the 1879 has reed edge bag marks on the cheek. Bump111 Pillar of the Community United States 3324 Posts	Posted 04/08/2024 10:26 am I agree with the grades provided above. Note that the 1878 is an 8TF coin - that will command a premium. To fully attribute the coin, pay attention to the feathers at the areas indicated by the red arrows. That will help narrow down which reverse this is.
