Last week, I decided to search ebay for the 1981-D nickel DDR. I figured that since most collectors don't even know that it exists, nobody would be looking for it. It can be hard to spot serif doubling on ebay pictures, but fortunately this particular DDR has a large die scratch marker through UN for confirmation.

You can see the doubling across the top and bottom serifs of E PLURIBUS UNUM. It is also visible to a degree on the top serifs of UN, and some bottom serifs of UNITED STATES.

Sure! These are some preliminary pictures that I took with my magnifier through the flip. I wasn't too excited about these images because I had to crank the glare way up to illuminate the doubling.

It might be possible to capture some close-ups using the macro lens. Is the doubling easier to see on these pictures?
