Would these be regarded as rotators?

The top one is, but I don't think the bottom one counts

Almost sure if IMN was the first digit was 6 then it would be a rotator front and backwards same serial #

I'm pretty sure the serial # must read exactly the same when the note is flipped 180 degrees & neither of your $5.00 notes match. CDN collectors don't regard a 1 as flippable since it has a serif (or little "doo-dad/hook" on the top). Only 8,0, 6 & 9 digits with the 0 and 8 in any position but the 6 & 9 must be in the exact opposite position: 0008000, 8080808, 0808080, 0088800, 0068900, 0660990, or 0090600 are all examples. Rotators are much tougher (scarcer) than most collectors realize.

A quick way to confirm rotators. Look at the banknote from the normal orientation and write down the 7 digits on a scrap piece of paper. Rotate the banknote 180 degrees so the top is closest to you and write down the 7 numbers you can read with them being upside down. If they are exactly the same then you have a rotator.

As an example if you did it on the first banknote you would first write down 0066606. Then when you rotate it 180 degrees you would see 9099900. Those two numbers are obviously quite different, so you aren't even close to it being a rotator. If your first digit was a 6 instead of a 0 you would then have a two digit radar but that's the best you can say about that note.

Thank you for the explanation. A true rotator must be very scarce then?

A radar-rotator (eg: 8800088) is tougher than a 2 digit radar (at least this is what I was told & I believe the collector since there's less # used to qualify a note). They're easier to find/buy b/c they're radars so would have been kept by most collectors.

A true rotator (eg: 6600099) is even tougher because they're very uncommon & often missed. Unfortunately, most collectors don't get this (& don't find them) so we just don't see many offered.
