A warm welocme to the forum.

I hope you enjoy your stay here.

The coin for some reason looks a bit fake. Then again I am not an expert so I will leave it to the experts of the forum.

The eagle looks europian to me, maybe German, Austrian or Russian?

Check out the Polish silver Grosch on these pages, The coin you have could have been a 1100 era predecessor of these. They have the same type eagle and the REGIS. Even in the 1500's they were kind of crude looking coins.

I suspect it's spurious, or at least, not a coin. I've never heard of a coin older than the 1300's with an AD date - the mediaeval Europeans were very slow to catch on to the whole "let's put the date on the coins" thing.

The eagle looks like the old Holy Roman Empire eagle shown here, also used as the symbol of modern Germany.
