97% of spot - $1145 USD. At the time of issue the gold value was $100 CDN. They were alloyed as coins for circulation, though it's doubtful any ever did. They're not quite as valuable (buying or selling) as the Maple Leafs.

Most of it went into other coins and nuggets, but the transactions were separate.

1982 100 dollar gold was a collectors Commemorative coin struck in Proof
issued in a leather box , encapsulated , with COA .
The theme was the Constitution repatriated from Westminster .
Never intended for circulation.

Of course it wasn't intended for circulation. The one I sold was still in the plastic capsule. But it is made of coin gold alloy, and at the time of sale contained $100 worth of gold, with a hefty proof premium.

The dealer said it was headed for the refiner.
