I just want to share my misfortune: I finally found 1992 D Close AM penny BUT... I had to share with someone who'd appreciate the irony of the situation. Behold!

A picture of the entire coin would be nice. Can't tell from this one picture if it is Close AM

Sorry, not a CAM. It's a WAM.

Your coin is a normal strike, the area on the lower M and A has been damaged and the metal has been misplaced making the A and M closer, even though if it were a true 1991 CAM it would not have brought any premium above the face value with this kind of damage.

that appears to be a WAM. But to be sure, can you post an image of the 'TAT' of states and the FG initials too?

I assure you, it was most definitely Close AM, I will post the photo of initials when I get a chance, but I can tell you right now, they're exactly where they were supposed to be for CAM. I couldn't tell exactly what it was either (seeing how damaged letters are) without looking at the FG.

That doesn't even look like the style of a 1992 cent...
Is the date damaged too? Might be a 1982.

I'm going to disagree with you until you provide proof that it is a CAM (by showing us the TAT and FG on this coin) Also can you please post up a full coin image of both sides?

... I'm beginning to suspect that you all are missing the point entirely. In that condition it wouldn't matter if it was handpainted by a queen. I just thought you'll share a chuckle. But if it's so important to you, sure thing, I will post the whole thing when I get home. I'm at work at the moment but I didn't throw it away, just chucked it into the jar of spending coins.

I'm a skeptic until we see in focus photos of both sides of the coin.

Quote: I'm beginning to suspect that you all are missing the point entirely. In that condition it wouldn't matter if it was handpainted (sic) by a queen Oh I get the point completely IF this coin was a CAM, then it would be a crying shame, However there are 3 'tells' for identifying a CAM/WAM coin. if one or 2 get damaged, then the 3rd can help to ID it as one or the other. If there was only ONE way to ID a CAM, then yes, it too would be a shame, but even with the damage, we can tell that there would be a large enough gap to ID it as a WAM[ shr]
