My other P mint Con quarter does not have that O on the reverse. Did they do something different in that year? Some damage on the rim & coin is very dark TIA

I'm thinking that it is just damage like all the other stuff - maybe a center punch was used to create the 'O' and it is just displaced metal.

@munch_311 I agree with Dearborn, it appears someone used a punch to make the O. The rest is PMD as well.

In general, we don't ever clean coins - it reduces the value of them, But seeing how this one is only with face value, there is no real harm in 'poking' about in it.
But if you are to start collecting any coin that hold a premium above the face value - do NOT clean them

Yes @Dear. So far, all I have done is knock some stuff away with a wooden toothpick. I haven't done much of anything else on the coins I've posted so far
