i have about 8Unc 1955-SanFransico mint dimes all unc the problem is a few have a differnt Serrif on the S than listed in any of my books including The Breen . Does anybody know anything else on this. By the info. I have I would either have to assume the dime is Fake? -- NOT a wise investiment for a conterfitter, or the dime might be a litle more rare do to the Serrif. Still working on getting photo I know that would help.

Hi scoutjim99

The odds of the Roosevelt 55-S dime being counterfieted is nil,, by mintage figures for that year The S mint stood head and shoulders above the other mints on production, which equates to more dies being used.

Keep in mind that the mint marks were added to the working dies ,,and small changes are not at all uncommon in coins of this era ,,position and shape,,even an extra wack of the hammer could change the appearance of the mint mark.

I would like to see pics !!!

Rick
