OK, this half went to PCGS in the same group as my 1877-CC coin. How do you think this one did?

I'll have to go with VF-30.

IMO the obverse is a solid EF, but the reverse (talons, arrow feathers, wing feathers, etc) is VF.

However, it is a CC, and sometimes it almost seems that CC coins have their own special grading standards.

Nice coin, I'm saving up to build a set of 1875 CC starting with the silver. The gold is going to be more challenging. I'd hope XF 40 on this one?

this one is odd to me. Details look VF/XF, but it appears to have a fair amount of remaining luster for the detail. Is it just the photo?
Rest in Peace

I'd say EF40. If it went under VF35 you got robbed.

Thanks for all the comments. PCGS called this one VF-35 which I think is a bit conservative. It does have some remaining luster, especially on the reverse. The ebay seller "northwoodskip" called it choice EF and I figured it would make PCGS EF-40 pretty easily.

I like the coin quite a lot so I'll just consider it a very solid VF-35!

ShadowCreator, northwoodskip seems legit to me. His grading was a bit generous compared to PCGS in this case but he has some very nice coins and I was satisfied with our transaction. He offers a no-questions return policy so your risk is minimal.

VF35 with the standard CC bump to EF40!

Nice!
