I bought an NCS slabbed coin on ebay ("1799/8 13 star draped bust dollar, VF Details, obv scratched") I understand it was probably conserved, but I'm concerned about its authenticity. The NCS number is not found in the NGC Verify tool. In fact, I have not found any NCS numbers in the NGC Verify tool for all those listed on ebay. Should they be there? If not, where can I verify the number?

Call NGC customer service. They used to be there (single number space).
I have met Sal and Mike is his son (in-law?) so they're not zero feedback newbies. You can call them too.

Thank you all for the replies. Any info on whether NCS slab numbers should show up in the NGC verifier? I checked quite a few NCS numbers of items listed on ebay and none of them came up. But more importantly, do you think this coin is real? The label says BB-143 B-2.

It's almost certainly authentic.

OK, a support person at NGC confirmed that this is an authentic NCS label. Apparently the only way to verify an NCS slab is to call NGC! But I'm so relieved and excited to see this gem soon in person. Thank you all for your advice and opinions.

Awesome, glad you were able to get a hold of NGC. Good to know that these can be verified by phone, I'll keep that in mind.

Fy_were_king that is weird because they used to be verifiable via the NGC cert. I wonder if they broke something when they added the requirement to select the grade... anyway thanks for the info,
