Thought id share my latest acquisition.I usually stick to silver coinage but am intriqued with some of the ancient ones regardless of material.

Really? This is British? I would swear this is Nordic.

What does it say on the edge?

It's a 2 pence, eh? So... does that mean this coin is huge with a weight around 6oz?

No, the Scottish penny was 1/12th the value of an English one - making 1 Scottish shilling equal to 1 English penny. A Scottish twopence is therefore slightly smaller than an English farthing.

Though the two countries were united under one monarch by James I in 1603, England and Scotland retained their separate monetary systems until the Act of Union in 1707. This coin dates from the time in between those two dates.
