The 700k figure quoted is for
calendar year 2009 mintage.
I estimate that 11.5 million 2009-D
Native American dollarswere minted in December 2008. The 2008 calendar year figure
for Golden (Sacagawea) Dollars reflects this, even though
the 2008-dated coins are "NIFC". The previous years' "NIFC"
Sacagaweas were minted in steady quantities around 3.5 million
per annum, and the 2008-dated coins should be around this figure.
There was also a large increase in the Philadelphia Mint calendar
year 2008 figure, suggesting that about 5.5 million 2009-P Native
American Dollars were minted during December 2008.
Both Mint's (P & D) gift shops had the business strike 2009 N.A.
Dollars available on the first week of January 2009. I bought them
from the Denver Mint that week ( and I
spent 98 of them!

)
And, of course, the mintage figures for the 2009's will not be
complete until 2010.
Quote:DNA: "As of Mar. 26th, 28,226 of the 2009-D
Native American dollar 25-coin Mint Rolls have been reported sold, so that's 705,650 individual coins sold so far right there, and that's counting
only the coins in premium-priced Mint Rolls!"
If I'd spent 98 coins of which only 700k were minted, I'd be kicking
myself...

Then again, the Mint appears to be the only source
where we can obtain the 2009 N.A. Dollars right now, even though
they're a 'circulation issue'. My 98 coins will be 'real finds'!
