As many of you may know, my daughter Caitlin has some serious health issues and is home schooled. I signed up to receive information packages and notices from the History Channel. They send for free which is fantastic for my budget! They also have a daily email you can subscribe to (also for free) that tells you what happened in history on this date which Caitlin loves but I find really interesting as well.

Anyway, today I received an email asking for help in preserving landmarks associated with Abraham Lincoln and I thought it may be helpful to spread the word to everyone I could.

Throughout 2009, History™ will proudly commemorate the bicentennial of Abraham Lincoln's birth with a new initiative entitled GIVE A LINCOLN FOR LINCOLN. In association with the National Park Foundation and the National Trust for Historic Preservation, this program encourages Americans to donate Lincoln-head pennies, five dollar bills, or make larger donations online to help preserve six key sites associated with Lincoln's life and legacy.

The six sites are:

* Lincoln's birthplace in Kentucky
* Lincoln's boyhood home in Indiana
* The Lincoln Home in Springfield, Illinois
* President Lincoln's Cottage in Washington DC
* The Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC
* Ford's Theatre in Washington, D.C.

Donate now to help save Lincoln's legacy. Donate online or mail your tax-deductible check,

There of course is other information in relation to Lincoln that you can read or allow your children to read if you would like.

thanks for reading
