Well I had an urge to buy some 2006P Lincoln Cent rolls today, while at my dealer, but don't ask me why. Must be bored and needed something to look at? After reading the story about the 2006 double die cents found by an Indiana man I figured I would test my luck. Well I have gone through the first 3 rolls this evening and have found 9 coins with die breaks with some having breaks on both sides. But the thrill has been finding two with MAJOR breaks to form a huge clump on the side of Lincolns head. It runs from above the ear, at an angle, towards the top of his head. Actually these are more than visible without a glass! There is another split off of that across the face to near the eyebrow where it makes a mole appearance near the right eyebrow! Both of these coins also have die breaks on the reverse as well. Now I am all fired up as I know somewhere there are cents that got steadily worse and I am hoping a major clump will be found in one of my other rolls. I may have to send one of these to Susan and Bobby so they can photograph it for all of you to see as I can't get a good photo. Who knows I may actually end up being thankful I bought all these rolls of Lincolns before I get done searching them. Still haven't found a double die but more rolls lie before me! Will have to keep you posted as I don't search rolls very often! Edited by crystalk64 04/02/2006 11:13 am

I will have to send a coin to Susan and Bobby as I don't have the ability to get a good photo. I am now up to 4 major die breaks in Lincolns head (4 rolls completed) and 9 coins with early signs of breakage on one side or both. So far this has been a lot of fun for someone who doesn't know squat about errors. I do know, as I was looking at the case at my dealers coin shop, I could hear those rolled pennies calling out to me, "take me home fool, take me home" and now I don't feel to bad about it. Probably will go back and buy the rest of them now as they have been an interesting lot to go through. Still have 6 more rolls to go through, here at the house, and I still feel like there is a mother of all die breaks just waiting for me!!! Will keep you posted and send one of these cents to Susan this week. ScoutJim99 CoinWorld reported an Indiana man had found various double die 2006 Lincoln cents so the urge to buy these rolls was pretty strong and even though I have found no readily visible double dies (at least to my old eyes) I am still excited about these huge die breaks and clumps of metal on the side of Lincolns head!

Have finished roll number #5 and now have 17 Lincolns with die breaks with 4 of them major die breaks leaving large clumps of metal on Lincolns head. Won't be opening any more rolls until this evening as I am getting ready to leave for the coin shop to buy the rest of his rolls! More to come!

Returned from my coin dealer with his last 7 rolls of 2006 Lincoln cents and have gone thru another 2 rolls. I now have 6 major die breaks with huge clumps of metal on Lincolns head and 24 with other earlier stages of the die break. Don't know what I am going to do with all these cents but I can almost show the break from the start to the huge clump now! Still looking for a die break that will end the die's life but have not found it yet! Ten more rolls to go!
JerseyZuh I paid a buck a piece for the rolls at my dealer.

The only place where all of the different known 2006P doubled die cents are currently published is on my site, coppercoins.com. Just go to https://www.coppercoins.com, click on "die variety search" near the top of the left-side navigation menu, enter "2006" in the first date box, then click submit. There are five different obverse dies and one reverse die so far. The discoverer on many of these was Robert Tingle of Indiana. He reported them to us first and we put them on the site. Coin World got to them later.

Coppercoins I am hoping yet to find a double die or two in these last 10 rolls as I am in INDIANA as well and many times a huge batch of any specific coin will end up in the same general area! The speared bison from 2005 all ended up in Texas so I do have hope here!

Hopefully I will have a photo or two in the very near future of these 2006 Lincolns with the die cracks and eventually the die break. Sent some out for just that reason!

Hi Guys
Im working on the photo's of Terry's coins, what I have found is very interesting, it appears that there are two different reverse dies that were used, as the obverse die was breaking in a very nice three coin progression.
Hopefully these photos will be up tomorrow.Saturday .
Rick
