Just picked this one up to add to my collection of Canadian transitional errors. I am sure others exist like this one but I haven't seen one yet. The coin should be struck on a 50% Silver planchet instead of 80%. The weight is the same for both but metal composition different. I am not real familiar with 50% silver versus 80% silver dimes but is there a difference in appearance?

I cannot answer your question, but that is a nice pick and nice addition to your collection. Thanks for sharing!

I don't know how you find one without doing tests on each 1968 dime. There are probably several out there unfound.

Someone probably had some original rolls of 1968 dimes and passed a magnet over the split roll and this coin was left from the pile. If you don"t mind what is this coin worth ?

An interesting purchase! I have the circulated versions of the 1968 dime, both the .500 silver and the Canadian-struck nickel type. At some point I will add the American-struck nickel metal dime to complete the trio. Your transitional error coin, however, is a bit above my pay grade. =)

I'm going by the grooves that I see in each of the dimes.

And the flat grooved one isn't magnetic? That is very interesting! The Saskatoon Coin Club only lists three varieties for a 1968 dime:
