BadThad, this I find amazing, I was just reviewing my Cherrypicker's guide last night where for this dated coin they say, "The authors still believe this variety may have never reached general circulation and feel the chances of anyone finding one" Virtually Impossible". I do believe this is now not true or we are looking at a virtually impossible coin that does not exist.LOL, LOL, Mike....

Thanks for posting the story, Thad.

Until someone actually finds one of these in the wild, The Cherrypicker's Guide still appears to be true...

Just pulled out my Cherrypicker's Guide. They say this variety was first reported in 1983 or 1984, where the PCGS article shows there were two known examples in the 60's. Regardless, unless a 3rd (actually, 4th) one is found, the variety probably never reached circulation.

If in fact there are known coins to exist ( I did not know this ) then I would think these coins are in circulation, just that we as a community have not found many, does not exactly mean they are not out there, just near impossible to find!!!
Rest in Peace

Numismo, I like that. also, now you and I both have another coin to search for another Doubled Die( When I read this note in the Cherrypicker's guide, I pulled out ALL my 58's and checked them over good, no luck ), remember it's the hunt, be well, Mike...
