@munch_311 Yes, Early is an actual answer to the question. I think you did a pretty good job attributing this. I do not think it's an early die stage (EDS), looks more like MDS on coppercoins to me. Check out the other reference sites to see if you can match markers and die stages. https://www.doubleddie.com/1944-D 1¢ WRPM-001 http://www.varietyvista.com/1944-D RPM-002 (D/D North. FS-502) Too bad about the damage by "Liberty", but nice find!

It would be easier to get an exact match to your coins' RPM with much better photos with close-ups on the mint mark. ..with that said I'd say it does look like a match as stated above.
