I have this 2022 D Nina Otero Warren Quarter with one of her fingers on the reverse that is 3/4 split. Someone said it is from a hit but I sure don't see any hit marks on it and it is straight out of a bank roll. The quarter is in super nice condition with the obverse in MS and the reverse shows couple of very fine scratches on her knuckles but nothing like the split in the finger. How does this even happen?

to the CCF, 6armyret9! That is definitely a hit on your quarter - certainly not a mint error. Watch the following video - especially starting at the 6:41 mark - to see how coins are packaged in bulk by the US Mint.

Thank you for the video! It was interesting to actually see the process!
I guess what is confusing me is that seems to be a big hit that moved quite a bit of material without going through the outer laminate layer of the coin. I still can't figure out where the metal was moved from as all the rest of the fingers seem to be intact and unaffected. I haven't seen anything else like this. Maybe it's just my old eyes! Thanks again!

to the CCF The layers on clad coins are not paper thin. It would take a tremendous hit to get through them to the copper core. This is a slight hit.
