This forum has been really helpful. Can not say enough for assisting new peeps or just the long time hobbyist.

I found this 1997 P Dime that shows what looks like an extra flame on the left side of torch. Is this a recognized variety for sending off for further examination or common for those years of dimes?

Thanks.

Not worth sending of to be slabbed. As a general rule: a coin needs a retail value after slabbing of at least $100 to justify all costs involved in sending off.

Not seeing your extra flame - What I see is some staining above the torch that is giving that appearance

Trying to look up staining for coins as that extra material on torch really looks there physically.

Thanks .

Not seeing it. As John1 said, your coin has to be very valuable to justify all costs of grading.

to the CCF!

Is the extra flame raised or incuse? I see something just under the E in STATES, but it looks more like a contact mark in the field than a raised area and it's completely detached from the flame.

Hopefully these closer pictures will assist with more determination (raised or incuse; contact mark). From what I see it appears to be attached/raised to the flames on torch but appreciate the time of others looking into.

Thanks to all.
