I Think I have now identified this coin as a "Galley Halfpenny" Otherwise properly known as an Italian Soldino" This one is Venice Doge Michele Steno 1400 to 1413. More details for interested parties at http://www.ukdfd.co.uk/pages/galleyhalfpence.html

It is indeed Venetian, "Type 1" as listed on that page - and thanks for the link, I'd been looking for a good listing of these Venetian minors.

However, on your coin, the obverse inscription (the side with the figure of the Doge) reads TMIC... and there's only one Doge on that list whose first name begins with a T: Tomaso Mocenigo (1414-1423).

Hi Sap, many thanks as always, I did look at that for Tomaso Mocenigo, but I opted for Michele Steno because the letters between 6 and 9 oclock looked more like STENO, I kinda assumed the T was a cross with the top bar clipped as the right bar looks a bit short too? but none the less, Its an interesting coin for my increasing hammereds collection that I picked up with 6 full and 3 other halves on ebay for £25 GBP, I might be posting another tomorrow night as the legend on this one just doesn't make sense to me, so hopefully you will be able to help on it too.
