As a Yank, please tell me why I love Sovereigns so much!

I was very fortunate to get this 1859 Young Head at gold spot. It's a beautiful AU. I know they're probably pretty common, but still my first Shield.

I also got this French 1849-A 20 Franc (I know, not British...but still beautiful). It looks BU.

[A bit blurrier than I'd like to post, but zooming on my iPhone I guess is not the best.]

Very nice.
You can't beat gold at spot.
Especially when it is a coin.

If you bought both at spot the french one was the better deal.

There are many shield sovereigns. Easy to find a UNC one. Yours went for spot because of some wear.
The ceres type 20 francs had a short mintage. I still lack that type. A better prize, congratulations.
