I also subscribed to the silver proof set. Is there any way the mint could screw me out of my proof sets as a subscriber? Does anyone know if they reserve quantities for subscribers?

I subscribed myself this year for the first time. Mainly because I thought that they'd send out the subscription orders first (along with the dealer orders), then make the rest available for orders online. Seemed like the best way to avoid trying to get an order in as soon as they become available in hopes they don't run out. I could be wrong though and subscriptions are prone to getting left out just like some of the cent roll orders got canceled due to over-ordering.

If you subscribe, you will get the coins. They fill the subscriptions up front.
I have been subscribed since 1999 and always gotten my coins quickly. Just be sure your credit card information is up to date or your order will get bounced.

Quote: They fill the subscriptions up front. That may be what they tell everyone. 2 years ago I had 10 different subscriptions 1 of them was the silver quarter set after the release date I decided I wanted 2 more sets so I ordered them The 2 sets arrived 2 weeks before the subscription Since then I order everything, and save Big on shipping by combining orders

On things that aren't at risk of "selling out", I like to wait to order until I can combine as much together as possible to save on shipping. Every little bit here and there helps ! ...

I agree with wif99 on how to order most things from the mint. Of course some items....Lincoln Cent for example...I just gotta do it NOW.

Quote: They fill the subscriptions up front. I don't know about shipping order, but my understanding is that a portion of the production is reserved for subscription orders such that all subscriptions will be filled. Ken

Quote: Is there any way the mint could screw me out of my proof sets as a subscriber? Does anyone know if they reserve quantities for subscribers? Yes it is possible. If you credit card expires before before they process your order your order will be canceled. Check you card and if it looks like it might be close, or if there is any possible chance, you must CALL the mint and get a customer service representative to go into that order and update the card information. Just updating your card on the website will NOT update previously placed orders and they WILL be processed using the card information that was valid at the time the order was placed. You can NOT update this previous order information yourself, it must be done by a CS represenative. The only time sets or coins are reserved for subscription orders is when the coin or set has a mandated maimum mintage. (That was why te subscription program for the First Spouse cons was elminated. Before the Martha Washington came out they already had more subscription orders than the 40,000 maximum mintage. If they hadn't canceled them the coins would have never gone on open sale and the only people who cold have ever gotten them wuld hav been the subscribers.) Since the proof sets do not, they are not reserved. An as mentioned subscription orders are not usually filled first. You just know you will get them, you don't know when, and freqently it is after a whole lot of other people get their non-subscription orders.
