Hello Friends,

Picked up this 1810 Half dollar which appears to be a O109a verity and hoping for a minimum of XF45... Please share your thoughts on its grade and the obverse scratch like line is a die flaw and a charectaristic of O109a. Thanks in advance!

I'll say EF details (cleaned).

It might make XF Details, VF+ for sure. The patina has been 95% stripped off with chemicals. It doesn't appear abrasively cleaned but I can't see a top TPG putting it in a straight-graded holder.

XF40. if they grade it straight they may net it down to VF35 otherwise they may call it XF details (cleaned). the grade also depends on how much they take into consideration the strike. there are some devices on both sides that could be taken as a 45. the rounded cheek, the cap details, the strong headband and lettering, the ear and the upper olive branch leaves. obv looks like a LDS or even VLDS and the reverse also showing late die state markers

Agree with XF details. The color is unnatural, likely cleaned, unless it's the photography and lighting.

Looks EF-45 to me. Jury is out on it being cleaned or not depending on the photos. Seems like the photo lighting is making it look cleaned. Can you post new photos with less brightness and more natural color?

XF-40 cleaned, shame the original surfaces were stripped.

XF-45 details cleaned. If it was choice I would say 50 but the surfaces are stripped out.
Suffering from bust half fever.
