Bonedigger, you crack me up!! I actually starting going "What is this guy smoking?" and then I saw your real explanation. I laughed out loud! Who says us coin nerds can't have a sense of humor?

Given the age of the tin and the time the dollar was out of circulation, I wouldn't expect it to be a fake. It has nice detail! Any Morgan that has breast feathers on the eagle on the reverse is great!
The 1883 P Morgan had a mintage of 12,290,000. Quite a few for this type but any Morgan rocks!

Naw, jbuck, I like Bonedigger's story about Sir Henry's losing his booty better. He'd fit right in here - some of us have lost OUR booties, too, on bad coin deals ...

I could be wrong, and I hate to be the bearer of bad news, especially with regards to some earlier comments, but that coin looks like it has been polished at some point. We've got an 1888 S Morgan that's been polished and it hads the same qualities that show that it's been polished. But like I said, I could be wrong.

Hi Tony I dont see any rubbing or Polish marks on the coin, but like I said, I know nothing about coin collecting and what to look for. If it has been polished it must have been over 50 years ago. I only know it has been in a tin for at least 50 years possibly more... There is a small dent on edge of coin

Don't laugh, but the tin may actually be worth more than the coin.
