Well I got my 1976-P souvenir set the yesterday, I 'WAS' expecting a delivery of the 1976-D (and a 1974 P/D souvenir set as well, but it never showed up . Tracking showed as "Out for delivery" then the status changed to "Ready for pick up" on Monday. No big deal, right? So on Tuesday, I got to the post office to get it - they tell me it went back on the truck to be delivered - But the status NEVER changed from the ROPU status. I go home and wait - NO package delivered for these I did get the 1976-P set but that was from another seller and different package altogether. So now I have to go back to the post office and file a claim of lost or STOLEN if it is not there. Now this is becoming a pain in my rear end.... (I did send a message to the seller to keep them informed) I got a response from the seller: Quote: New message from: Edited Sellers name out for the moment (182,988) The USPS is a complete s... show.
I can't begin to tell you how bad it is but if you shipped 100+ orders a day as we do...... with all the "mistakes" we see you would wonder, as we do, why the entire system doesn't just implode.
You can't believe ANYTHING that is reported in tracking.
A large percentage of the time it looks like they are just making it up

Yes, frustrating.
I routinely conduct business through the USPS--not at a high volume, but somewhere in the range of 25 transactions monthly for a number of years; evenly split between incoming and outgoing (Ground Advantage and Priority Mail). I've run into a few items being misrouted, and a few delays for other reasons, but I've only had one experience where something turned up missing--an item purchased from a seller. Again, this is just my experience. Had a poor engagement twice with FedEx, but that's another story... Perhaps I've been inordinately fortunate, but I'd hesitate to brand the entirety of USPS as a complete failure.
Do hope things work out for you.

Don't panic yet. I shipped a coin from Louisiana to Florida and it had an extended stopover in Baton Rouge - well over a week. Took almost three weeks to be delivered.

Hopefully you'll get the coins okay. I've been using USPS Informed Delivery for years. Usually it's accurate. But sometimes it's wrong, a package has been sent to the wrong city or it sits in one distribution center for days.
I've noticed I'm getting more USPS emails with the status of packages. But the emails can be outdated or says a package is scheduled to be delivered today but it's not in my city "in transit."
My worst case was years ago when a coin from Europe disappeared in USA. The seller refunded the money. SIX months later it arrived. I have no clue where it was "lost" in the postal system. I contacted the seller and sent him the payment. He was happy.

Well, I just got back from the post office, with another attempt to get them to find my package and all I got was a bloody nose from walking into a locked door. they are closed today..

Well the nose stopped bleeding and once again went to the post office - the teller went back to find my package - a manager came back with a piece of paper that she would not let me read, but said that my package was ONCE AGAIN "on the truck to be delivered".
So I go back home again. This time I'm waiting out ion the hot sun for the Mail truck - I talk to the driver and we searched his entire truck - NO package!! Now I'm starting to see red.. I'll be going back tomorrow AGAIN to talk to a manager to find out why they are lying to me.
Also I'm going to make a phone call to the main post office number.
To be continued!

Yeah, sometimes the shipping updates are like the Family Circus Sunday comics where Billy goes wandering through the neighborhood on an errand. The other day I bought a coin from Philadelphia, coming to me in eastern PA. After a few days of shipping, it appeared in Florida and was sent on its way to Providence, RI. Eventually it meandered its way west through New York state and arrived safely.

Yes, that is a great reference - if my package was 'taking a world tour' before hitting my mailbox, but this one is 'sitting somewhere' most likely in somebody's kitchen table -

I'm guessing it gets delivered to you soon. Probably misplaced at the post office or put on the wrong truck. I'd be more concerned if tracking shows it was delivered, but not to you.
