Bought inexpensively on
ebay as a regular nickel. I am having a hard time matching up the letter position under the chin. Usually the reverse clash has a nice thick horizontal line that makes it clear where the letters will peek out. Any ideas on what goes where? I have to say, from a distance with the naked eye, it's easy to see the squiggles definitely have structure, but when I get zoomed in with the magnifier, it is much harder to determine lettering on the worn surface.
Coin was sold as a 1916 (no mm mentioned). Is this actually a 1916 or something else?
Finally, I don't know if it's
Pareidolia, but there is a very well defined E shape indented in front of the chin. It's way too big to be the E from EPU, and it seems way too misaligned to be the E from America. Might be a different shape from the clash that my brain just refuses to see as anything but a letter.
