Does the staining and PMD on this coin destroy any premium it might have? Reverse of coin is in much better shape.

I'll say VF details (staining, scratched, graffiti).

Thank you. Most of the coins from this seller are cleaned but never mentioned with the grading. Thing that bothers me about it is they are a coin dealer.

Premium over melt? Yes. I think it would find a buyer at $40, given enough time.

Yes, this coin is severely damaged, I'd place it in the cull category regarding how nice these can come.

The staining suggests to me that it could be organic in origin.
A very long acetone soak may help remove.
Cull category? - Not me ! - I would still be happy top retain it in my collection anyway !

Quote: Cull category? - Not me ! - Correct, this coin has several issues and would be placed under the severely damaged category. A choice coin at this grade level could be worth around $100, but a damaged coin would be thrown into the $50-$60 category. Coins can look much uglier (holes and whatnot at the $30-$40 range) so I suppose this would be a second-tier cull .

It still does have some value, but is greatly reduced.

The big issue is the graffiti on the cheek. The staining might come off with a long acetone soak, and that would improve the appearance quite a bit.

We all have different likes and dislikes. I love bust half dollars, but the graffiti is a deal breaker for me.
