@John
Thanks for moving the topic where it belonged. You guys do NOT disappoint. I've been on other coin forums in the past that are nowhere close to being as responsive as y'all are here!

If I remember correctly, my husband had loaned somebody some money, and when they couldn't pay up, they used some of their coin collection. It has been probably about 10 years, maybe not that long, but the guy knew that the coin was a good coin. but he did owe my husband quite a bit of money, lol!

I know that he needs to have it graded or certified by one of the companies that do that, do y'all have a recommendation of one over the other?

@everyone else, thanks so much for the welcomes and your help. Y'all are a very knowledgeable bunch for sure! I can't wait to tell my husband, he will definitely want to join the forums. He has lots of coins and he truly believes he's got something somewhere that's gonna be the holy grail. I tend to tune him out, because he says that a lot, but one day he's going to surprise me!

You have 3 options. Those options are PCGS, NGC, and ANACS. ANACS is the cheapest to have a coin slabbed. Although, coins graded by ANACS won't sell for as much as a coin graded by PCGS or NGC. If you want to spend the least amount of money and don't care about the lower resale value, go with ANACS. If you care about resale value and don't mind spending more money, go with PCGS or NGC. I hoped this helps.

If it was me, I would use PCGS.

Agree, go with PCGS first.
