Hello, CCF. What are your thoughts on this one? I'm thinking XF details.

I agree with the grade of EF-40 details. Also, for variety attribution, this is a classic 1824/4 O-110.

psuman08 if you go through a bunch of these you'll see that there are many that probably should have detailed that are in straight holders. heres one graded XF40 straight by PCGS

plus most of those parallel lines you are seeing on the coin are from die polishing

XF Details, but a 50-50 shot whether it straight grades or not. I would purchase it assuming cleaned, because it is. The single lamp lighting may be accentuating the hairlines so it is hard to say for certain what it looks like in hand.

Die polish on Capped Bust halves are virtually unknown. Additionally, if there were, they would disappear much before the coin reached the XF-40 grade. They are hairlines.

This one probably looks real good in hand. The cleaning is not as obvious as the PCGS example panzaldi used.

Side note, you cannot compare the reeded edge and lettered edge bust halves. They were made with completely different processes, designed by two different engravers, and graded through totally different perspectives. The reeded edge series is seen cleaned much more often, so reeded edges get more leniency by the grading services than the earlier reeded edge halves.
