Hi, Excuse me wandering in to this exchange. I have just signed up and feeling my way blindly in to this form and looking for a subject matter that I can identify with.
Florins being the word that caught my attention.
I have a gold florin for Jean II of King France, 1350-1364, which is the St. John the Baptist type. The coin is c. 1360, 906% gold weighing in at 3.45grm. From what I have read so far about these Florins, they would seem to be the universally acceptable currency around Europe, much like the Euro is today.
I also have, what is referred to as a Florin d'or which is also known as a Franc a Cheval/ Cavalier d'or. This was made for Francois I & II, both dukes of Brittany, France between 1442 & 1488. It depicts an armoured night on horseback.

French hammered gold coins for the period of the Valois dynasty, 1328 - 1590; Anglo Gallic gold coins; and the Gold coins of the French Feudal Dukes of Brittany & Burgundy (inc. Flanders, Brabant, Hainaut, Artois, Holland) during the Hundred Years War period, form my collection.
Anyone who has a similar interest in this time frame is most welcome to tap in to my meagre knowledge of these coins, or have any pearls of wisdom to share on the subject, then I would be delighted to chat with you.

Ok, I think. &
Not been in long enough to figure out what that actually means.
But thank you, no doubt it will clarify in due course.

Interesting coins!

From your user name are we to assume your collection is related to rulers and places involved in that conflict?

And does it also include silver coins?

Very nice @100 and welcome to CCF. If you post each coin in a separate thread, then we can give them all the attention they deserve.

Gold only is a pretty high bar for the 14th and 15th c.
