These are interesting nickel roll ends - an old buffalo and a new buffalo. Of course the old buffalo was dateless and detailess.

Ummmm... Don't lose that old Buffalo nickel just yet... Can you get a better shot of the front side? It's probably just a reflection BUT... those hair ribbons look awful wide to me and it looks like doubling on the chin, the forehead and the neck.... Maybe it's just wishful thinking...but... do you know what I'm thinking...?

In case you're not getting my drift....make sure that old Buffalo nickel is NOT the coveted 1916 DDO before you toss it into a drawer or a coffee can... I'm about 99% certain that what I'm seeing on it is simply the result of reflections from too much light...but there are just enough signs to make it...intriguing.

I've still yet to find a Buffalo nickel while roll searching through 100+ rolls. Great find!

To Davest-there were nickels in the middle of the 2 nickels on the end.
To weerdsteev-I got your drift. Here are a couple of more pix. Probably not much better. The problem with my scope is that the lights are built in. I really don't want to disable them. I'll just have to learn to control the light. Anyway, do these show you anything more ?

Numismo - No...the new pix do not help. Do this: Grab a magnifying glass and look at the the two most prominent feathers. Look to see if there is any doubling at and below the tips. It will appear to be a fine line tracing around the outside of the feather, about 1/64th of an inch from the feather. The same doubling might be in evidence at the front or the back of the neck, on the bridge of the nose or on the forehead. The very best indication is a widening of the hair ribbons, but you might need a standard 1916 P to compare it to.

Here is another thread where one of our members found TWO of these rarities. Note that a few members were pretty convinced that he had NOT found one... https://goccf.com/t/42514

weerdsteev I checked around the feather-no fine line. Thanks for the interest and the info. The coin is so worn that the line, even if it were there, is probably long gone.
