, glad you can ask us! Probably sleep deprived, as the 1958 cent has well over 252 million minted. Does not look like a proof cent in these images so I believe a circulation coin here in nice, decent condition. Also not the ultra rare doubled die obverse from my observations...

Please explain why this '58 Wheat cent is 'one of the rarest' cents. Not meaning to be confrontational. Given the posted photos, I believe I'm seeing a very lightly circulated, common '58 Wheat cent. Perhaps worth 15-25 cents to a typical Wheat cent collector in this condition.

Does anyone see the doubling? Perhaps double punched. I have hundreds of 58's and none are this blatantly marked. In addition to the off center, the mint condition and the L riding on the rim there is obvious doubling. I am just asking my fellow coin enthusiasts.

The 1958 DDO is one of the rarest with only 3 having been publicly auctioned. The rarity of the coin made me pause before getting too happy so I turned to you. No need to knock the joy, just thought it was a maybe.

Please post sharp(er) photos, if possible. Often letters/numbers on highly reflective surfaces can look slightly doubled. Given what's currently posted, I'm not seeing any doubling. Of course, you have the coin in-hand; all we have are the photos posted.

Just a normal 1958 cent worth a few cents . Coin struck from slightly worn / tired dies . You did not win the lottery !

Would seriously need much better, in focus, photos to help you here. Stright-on not at an angle as mentioned.

Looks like you are seeing the reflection from where the numbers and letters arise from the surface of the coin.
At this junction it is shaped like an Atari sign, not like lego. this slope reflects the light.
In a doubled die the doubling is the same height as the letters/numbers not at the base. Think a well endowed woman in a bikini sunbathing by the pool side
