Does anyone know why the 1921 Peace dollar is worth so much more then the 1927 Peace dollars, even though the numbers produced are in the same ballpark? I guess what I am getting at is, was there any reason that 1921 Peace dollars were destroyed, or 1927 dollars survived, or 1921 dollars are in higher demand?

The 1921 Peace dollar is essentially a one year type coin and different from the rest of the Peace dollar dates due to the fact that it was struck in high relief. One year types usually have high demand and that makes the value go up.
