A few days ago I was on a bit of farmland where I have permission to detect on. I have visited this place many times over the years and it produces Roman coins, brooches, silver hammered and the odd silver Celtic unit. I had been there for maybe 6 hours and was heading back to the car, detector in hand and swinging and hit a really nice clear signal. After digging it, I found the soil ball and could see the gold rim of maybe a ring........ Nope not a ring, a beautiful Celtic Stater.   South Ferriby gold Stater. Wreath, cloak and crescents. Lunate horse reverse with anchor face above. 5.85 grams, 18mm. Kev.   |

Thanks erafjel. I am still buzzing. One of my best finds and will be sending it to the local FLO to get it registered.

Great find, looks almost uncirculated! Amazing! Detecting in Britain is definitely something on my bucket list.
