I find it interesting that the Flowing Hair is $100 more than the Buffalo and they are minting 1500 more Flowing Hair than Buffalo.
Design premium?

Annnnnnnd... done!

That was quick and painless. Well, not including the pain of shelling out all that money. Given the cost, I figured it wouldn't hurt to splurge a bit more and opt for next-day shipping (once it actually ships, that is).

I was in waiting room for 4 minutes, then put one in my cart. I decided not to buy, just wanted to see if I could. I logged out, then back in about ten minutes later, my cart said no longer available so they went fast. I really think these will be winners, will appreciate in value, we'll see.

I guess I should not be surprised, but I am surprised.

I just joined. I was trying to decide if I should buy the coin or not based upon the opinion of this thread (not kidding). I want to share my experience so maybe people understand what happened or I could be adding to the confusion:

I went to the US Mint website at 11:30 AM EST expecting to be put into the US Mint waiting room - nothing.

I refreshed at 11:40 AM EST - nothing.

Around 11:42 AM I was put into the waiting room, only to be put back on the US Mint website a minute later.

There was no line until 11:59 AM EST. I got my place in line put in my payment information and was told the product was out of stock.

Luckily I was also using my cell phone. For some odd reason, I was able to complete the order on my cell phone. I am not sure if there was a glitch on the US Mint website and it will be available again in a few hours or if the companies who can order in advance ordered so many there were not many available to the public. I seem to remember something similar happening when I ordered two 2023 Gold Liberty coins. Try signing up for the availability email or check back once in a while.

Sorry some of you may have missed the opportunity. I blame the Mint.

I'm shocked it went so fast. I didn't even get the usual emails from companies asking to purchase for them.

I have no idea if this will end up being "collectible" or even ever worth the high premium the Mint added. I just bought it because I really like the design (and, now that my son's college tuition is totally paid for, I can justify the expense).

barryg- Nice!

RPT - I think the US Mint botched the release big time one way or another. They either sold too many to companies that will have the coins graded and resold, or their website glitched. I am sure I am not the only one who tried to check out and got the message. My checkout time was 12:03 PM and the order was denied. Then as I said I bought it on my cell phone.

I was able to get in a few seconds after 12 p.m. (never been that lucky before), and completed my order without a hitch by 12:01. Paid for the overnight delivery for the first time ever because I was already if for $3,600, so what's another $25 (never paid for overnight service before...they'll probably leave it on my front porch). Got an email at 6:01 p.m. saying it was shipped. I figured this would be popular, but I didn't think it would it would become unavailable after only 10 minutes. With issuance of 17,500 coins I still think anyone who wants one will be able to get one.....from the mint.
