So, If I understand correctly the U S Mints will produce Coins, just NOT able to buy like the Last 1000 Items we bought,

Since when did the Direction of Our Numismatic purchases from the Mint Change, Why ?

They clearly exhibit Over-the top moves to make more $$$$$, This move is Not Acceptable, Now they will auction off products, Very poor tapping into the Numismatic Markets.

I never figured the Mints would take part in the Hunting of the Very coins, Medals, etc We all collect, So now they will collaborate with auction houses to sell -off the very products We all collect and seek , WOW, Very sad to see, ....

That's how I see it, They do NOT make enough, ? Others Thoughts Please.........

So in listening to the posted video by Livingwater I see the U S Mint, NGC, PCGS and Stacks and Bowers have all collaborated to Profit, " As not seen before ".

It seems Third party coin graders are trying to corner a market We all had the privilege and passions to buy as offered, Is not taking place, We have been compromised, Cut out of all the Historic mintage's to come?

What ever happened to a Free and Open market business..

I feel disappointment, frustration and resent the Big coin grading companies helping re-direct our collecting habits and desires. I mean we all have paid the "price " to have the choice to play or Pass on a released coin or medal, Now we are changing the rules, one can ponder all we want, this is a Terrible direction.

So now all the " auctioned " coins will be graded, only?

I Hope I am not alone here......Ole school .

It's outrageous the mint is doing this to their customers. First they make an illegitimate rarity then they auction it off.
We should all protest by cancelling our subscriptions.

Pmint1,

My sentiments going forward, ........

We can have collective thoughts Here, Seems I am not alone. I am in disbelief the Characters involved have Decided for Us their path, the Path We all choose, Buy or pass has changed, What does this say for future releases, " create " rarities after minting coins then Auction them off !!

So We all subscribe, filling Annual holes, ( in deep ) and at times We were thrown a Super collectible coin which became a collectible coin , Especially once seen how much $$$$ was paid on the secondary Numismatic markets, After Over-pricing their releases, Making a Fortune in record collective sales, They decided they want to Now become a partner with a Auction house, Partnering with 3rd party graders and an auction house to Auction off The U S Mints Premeditated, Predetermined agenda of Making more $$$$$$.

We Need to take a collective stand on Exactly whats happening here, What else is going to change, Long gone are the Wild West like days @ high noon we all had sweaty palms and were very frustrated, Until We had a Confirmation........

I think it's true to say a lot of modern US Mint products do not greatly increase in value over time. A year or two later you can buy them roughly close to release price. We collect because we enjoy them not so much expecting profits if selling.

There are exceptions. Some modern mint products do increase in value substantially. Recently the 2021 Morgan, 2021 Peace, 2021 gold Liberty with horse, etc.

The 2023 silver Liberty with tree is still available. The 2024 silver flowing hair sold out in two days, currently selling for good profit on ebay. It's design and low mintage made it popular. It's price likely will fall some in a year or so after the hype is over, we'll see.

With high gold spot price and high premium the 2024 1 oz gold proof/UNC American Eagles have not sold out. In my opinion the 2024 gold flowing hair will sell out and will likely increase in value over time. It's design and low mintage will keep it popular. Anyone here planning to try and buy one? I'm thinking about it, but I'd need to pull money out of my savings. The mint hasn't posted it's price yet.

Price is posted, $3,640, same as gold proof buffalo.

Edit, later this afternoon they dropped the price of the gold proof buffalo $100 to $3,540.

I find it interesting that the Flowing Hair is $100 more than the Buffalo and they are minting 1500 more Flowing Hair than Buffalo.

Let's face it, folks, it's a predictable format for a scam game, and you're only going to be a victim.

$3,640....a bargain! Maybe I should get two! A question I think I already have the answer to: Is there a date they're commited to whereupon they must withdraw from making it available? End of 2024? End of 2025? Until sold out? I suspect the answer is the latter.

When mint products don't sell out they usually stay listed for sale into the next year, then eventually are closed.

I edited my prior post, later today they dropped the price of the gold proof buffalo $100.

Some don't like these special NCLT issues, others like them. My opinion is they help the coin collecting world, more get involved even if the prices are high and they aren't the same as classic coins. I'm not much interested in the coming Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman but if they draw more young people into the hobby, that's a good thing. If the US mint starts releasing lots of special issues, colorized, cartoon characters, movie stars etc like Canada it will be to generate income. I likely won't be much of a buyer.

Some modern issues have generated profit for those who flip. I suspect this gold flowing hair will also sell for more than release price at least for a while like the silver version. The price of the gold flowing hair may be a "scam" but the coin itself is absolutely spectacular, beautiful in my opinion. I saw glimpses of it on the mint's YouTube channel.

Step right up folks. Place your bet and take your chances. It's a game the US Mint plays, and believe me you don't have the advantage.
