Traded in many circulated US coins and got the beauties below. I am pleased and so is the wife as she sees fewer coins. This is what I call a win-win

Austria Ferdinand (1564-1695) 2 Taler. Edge is not mounted but rather clipped during of punching and pressure applied to the blank.

Wow! I think you made some real nice purchases - especially the klippe. Have you thought about trying to put together a full set of the issues for the 1628 cathedral? The double talers are simply amazing. I attended the Central States show today and absolutely drooled over a 1 1/2 taler from brunswick, but I couldn't figure out a way to make it happen.

What other issues are you aware of for the 1628?

BTW - I just noticed NGC enables verification of slabs along with images. See this one I had sent in a while back -

Zohar - the only other issues for 1628 are the 1/2 taler, the 2 taler, 3 taler, 4 taler, 5 taler, and 6 taler pieces. Can you imagine the rarity of those multiple taler pieces?

Again - congrats on the new pickups. I will be interested to see what you manage to dig up on the 1628 klippe (a restrike I assume?).

1628 is a restrike, dealer called it a 'Double Klippe' - it weighs close to 2 ounces in silver (thicker than a 2 Taler piece) and supposedly had a mintage of 100. I can not find any validation yet I liked the linkage to the 1628 original.

Zohar444- the Double Klippe is a very nice 300 year commem coin. But who was the exact issuer of the coin? Was it actually a product of the Austrian mint?
