Hello! I've found a penny that seems to be a partial collar, though I wanted confirmation as it also has some bad PMD. The coin has a diameter of 19.26 mm at its widest point. Note that the edge as pictured below is only that way for 3/4 of the coin, the rest appears normal. Thoughts?

Was that encased in a bezel at one point?

Not as far as I know, but it is possible. I likely got the penny from a bank roll.

I believe the flange of a partial collar would only extend on one side at a time. I concur that this seems to have been in a bezel or something similar.

100% PMD. Might have been smashed by a hammer.

That cupping on the edge is how coins are locked into certain bezels. The coin is put into the bezel then struck with a die that pushes the top and bottom edge of the coin out, locking it into the bezel,

Not to be confused with a partial collar die strike that looks like this:

Bezel-like prep, along with post-strike damage. A fun curiosity.
