I ran across a neat looking nickel on ebay today, and I was tempted to buy it. Concentric rainbow toning and some mottling, overall a visually interesting coin. Then I looked at the seller's other nickels and coins. They seem to be offering quite a number of toned nickels, silver dimes, silver quarters.

Is that normal? I know that some dealers favor toned coins because they sell. I also know that some folks artificially tone coins. Is it plausible that a batch of vintage coins from the same album would have all toned in a similar way?

I did a quick look and they look NT to me. Most collectors though say toned is toned,if it looks good to your eye then collect it.Keep in mind though that if you try to sell a toned coin you will have to find a collector who has a similar eye to you.

Yes, they could as they were all exposed to the same environment. No guarantees though.

Probably goes without saying...while coins in 'the same album would have all toned in a similar way', there may be some differences/variance from edge of the album to the interior, and from the last album page/board to the first. Some coins will tone more strongly than others. That said, toning from an old album can be quite striking.
