Thank you all. yeah, I think this is a really great activity, it's a lot of fun and you get to see a lot of different coins. However, I only have one date left that I will be able to use once 1830 is up, So I really hope there will be a ninth edition

Thanks TeeEss86 - they are little silver coins, smaller than a dime, worth four English pence. The groat is a very historic denomination dating back originally to the 13th century, but the last issue was in 1888 - by then the silver threepence was considered more convenient.

I'm afraid my last 1836 UK coin isn't as nice...

I can see the obverse has the same Image as the Groat. Is the reverse the same as well?

Virtually the same, Britannia by Wyon. A similar seated figure of Britannia was used on most English copper and bronze coins from the late 1600s until decimalisation, and adopted later for the cupro-nickel 50 pence until 2008, but the groat was the only silver coin with the seated Britannia.

Had a rough day yesterday... doing a bit of catch-up.

1838 Cuzco Peru 8 reales: One of my absolute favorite coin designs. Whole lot going on in that imagery.
I have two of these; note different assayer's initials.

Fantastic coins, everyone! mysilveryears, that Peru 8 reales has me drooling!
I have 4 1/4 Real from Mexico to image - one that may be real, and 3 that are horrible fakes.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Four 1/4 reales - a genuine but unfortunately harshly cleaned one and three cast fakes:
