Hello! I've found a 1984 P quarter that seems like it must have PMD on the edge/rim. However, the metal seems fused to the coin, so I'm not entirely sure how that could happen. Any ideas?

The displaced metal makes me think it was a strong ding on edge. So damage PMD.
