Hey guys didn't know where else to put this topic. Did you hear about the denver hoard where there selling bags and rolls of them. Next auction ends this week. I bought 4 coins from a bag but I'm afraid that the man selling them had placed some really nice ones in the bag before hand to make it looked better. Found out he paid 7500 for his bag of 100 morgans. There was some nice pl and some dmpls. He had a couple rolls also and pulled a 1889 cc out of the roll but later on someone checked ebay and found the same exact coin same scratches and all they bought it for 6k as a cleaned coin then sold it for 14k live as a not cleaned. It's annoying they turned a great fun evening into a scammy night. Sorry I'm typing this as a passenger in a bumpy work truck. Kind of rambling here. My point is no matter what there's always bad people in every aspect of life. It's annoying.

This is a common scheme, sadly, in coin collecting. A seller does an auction of "original" or "unsearched" bags of coins and strategically inserts a few rare ones so that they get good seller feedback. Very high profit margin and honestly not a very good way to buy coins. If you want to play a game of chance there are plenty of online casinos with better odds.

Welcome to CCF! I would avoid such offers. They are like TV commercials and newspaper ads from some companies saying "just discovered" "only 100 available buy now while they last" promos. Most of the time you'll be paying too much. Also be careful buying on ebay. There are some bad sellers there, overpriced or fake, but also there are good legit sellers at fair prices. Learn the difference. You can check ebay sold listings to get an idea of what coins are selling for. If you have a local coin store check them out, same applies, most are good honest people, some not.

and with livingwater above. There is nothing we can really do about things like that but to teach collectors of what to watch out for.
