Looking for opinions on grade and Overton variety.

This one I believe is the Square Base 2, unsure of the Overton.

Photo lighting and skills are poor, so keep that in mind. Most of these I am posting today appear perfectly original.

Also, for the Overton experts, please provide an opinion also on the premium - the PCGS guides barely show any having a premium.

Thank you!

Whew, this coin is set apart from the others! It is an O-101 R-1, and a coin that starts to command hefty premiums in the choice EF and higher grades.

AU-55 lightly wiped, may or may not straight grade.

There is some flatness in the rim on the lower obverse and upper reverse, so I would inspect the edge to see if there is anything fun going on with the edge lettering.

Did you try to look for the Overton? There is literally only 1 for square base overdates. http://maibockaddict.com/1820-cappe...d-page.shtml

The edge lettering is nearly non-existent. I'd take a picture, but I already suck at that and it just looks 90% around the circumference like a regular flat rim and only 10% or so of the coin has the faintest hint of lettering.

Does that warrant anything special or even classify as a mint error? If I were to send this in should I even note it? If it were a modern, it would probably classify like a golden dollar "missing edge lettering".

It technically does qualify as a mint error, although it is not collected by many people. I can count on one hand how many people I know that are interested in edge lettering errors including myself. I know PCGS and NGC can slab doubled edge lettering or missing edge lettering but I am unsure what they'll say about mostly gone edge lettering.
