Hello everone,

Would appreciate your thoughts on this 1891-CC Morgan that I recently picked up? will this straight grade VG10 or a F12? Worth the grading fees? Please share your thoguhts and appreciate all your inputs.

Thank you so much!

VG 10 details . No sense making the grading companies richer!

well, you sure did throw a curve ball with this one. the 91(CC) typically are above average in strike. the dilemma I have is the disconnect between the high points of the devices and the other devices. the lettering and date are both saying VF30 as well as the hair under the ear. the cheek almost roundish but the entire top of the head is flat. I have to assume weak obv due to these markers.

the reverse is telling me the same story. lettering and arrow tips are telling me VF30. all the high points of the devices are flat

its not the spitting eagle variety

imo its a old cleaning. the overall coin is just way too clean for a VF coin.

i think its going to come down to how a TPG will interpret what I see. the cleaning if done was while ago and did not harm the coin so I don't think they would detail it for that. if I was grading it I would net the coin to F12. at F12 the coin would retail for about $150 or so. not worth the cost of grading unless you have vouchers. grading fees would chew up most of its value.

one bonus...its a CC and these forever continue to increase in value. if it was mine i'd airtite it and call it a day.

I see some likely suggestions of an old cleaning, but think it would straight-grade today.

Is that graffiti in left obv. field or just marks?

Thanks everyone for your inputs. I did pick it up for a good price so as Panzaldi suggested will keep it in my hoard. Have a great weekend everyone!
