I was sorting through a bag of 2 cent coins when I came across this unusual looking coin. It has several rays of damage radiating outward from the center, plus some edge damage. It looks like its been squashed with something, but the thickness is the same as other 2c coins.

Damage at the mint or afterwards? Thank you

Someone has hacked at it with a knife or saw.

Thank you for the replies.

I thought it was post mint damage but as the coin is unusual in appearance I wanted to make sure.

Thanks
